Our History

From a vision to a school of 500 students.

Universal Philippine School was established in July 2022 to serve the educational needs of the Filipino community in Al Ain — founded with the vision of becoming a leading institution in the Gulf Region.

After meeting the rigorous standards of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), UPS was granted Education License Number 202216AD and officially opened its doors in December 2022. The school began with 45 students — a modest yet meaningful start.

By our second year of operation, enrolment is projected to reach 350 students. In late December 2024, UPS came under the new ownership of Al Ansari Education Group — joining a network of established Filipino schools across the UAE.

As we grow, our mission remains clear: to provide a well-rounded education that combines academic excellence, Filipino cultural preservation, and a strong sense of community — addressing the real need for culturally relevant, high-quality schooling for Filipino expatriate families in the UAE.

Philosophy

Education is a process of growth by which a person learns, thinks and acts rationally and effectively.

The opportunity to develop and master basic skills, attitudes and desired values must be made available to each learner according to their own pace and ability. Respect for race, culture, religion, physical stature, and social status of people from different countries must be developed by each learner.

The home, the community and the school are the most important institutions wherein the body, the mind and the character of the youth can be fully nurtured.

To prepare students to become successful learners who can develop the skills and qualities necessary for learning, life and work in the 21st century.

UPS envisions itself to be the sole provider of transformative and globally competitive education — producing faith-centred, environment-friendly, socially responsive, and values-oriented individuals who uphold the vision, mission, and values of Abu Dhabi 2030.

We ensure the local community is well-represented and participates in the development of the school, while educating students to understand, respect, and promote the local culture, religion, and heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
